On Soldier's Heart

From the Mentoring the Soul events calendar:

June 13-17, 2007 Craryville, NY
Soldier’s Heart Veterans Return Retreat

Since the book “War and the Soul” hit the shelves in November 2005 author Ed Tick has been touring the country talking about the psycho/spiritual needs of veterans when they return home from war. In response to those who want more in depth experience Soldier’s Heart [held] a Veterans' Return Retreat Wednesday, June 13th through Sunday, June 17th. It [was] an experiential, intensive retreat calling on the essential healing elements that are described in “War and the Soul”. Areas [addressed were]: The Old Identity, Being Called, Boot Camp, On the Home Front, War Madness, Homecoming, and Warriorhood.

Visit www.soldiersheart.net for more information. The retreat [was]  held at Pumpkin Hollow Farm, a peaceful and rustic setting nestled amidst the Berkshire and Taconic Mountains.

Returning from Soldier's Heart Retreat feels like coming back to base camp from a long trek in the bush. Or maybe like flying so many missions that your bones vibrate at the same frequency as the chopper.

There we plummeted into War depths seldom known. The sweat lodge separated egos from bodies. We planted and watered veteran support trees and watched the roots and branches grow. We allowed each others love to become the salve of our own healing. Ed and Kate as our stewards led us into the underworld and we emerged knowing that the human heart is stronger then any evil made by man.
